Why Translink Evergreen Line Home Owners Should Pay Higher Property Tax ?

Cities without access to world class public transit system, like Translink Skytrain and Bus network system, want huge capital investment in their cities and make their cities more accessible by public transit.

Translink Evergreen Line is a necessity for vast amount of people, who would love to leave their car at home and take public transit.

Translink does not have enough money to cover the cost of this new skytrain line. To make the dream of Evergreen line come true, along with Federal and Provincial Government, Cities covering the Evergreen line must also contribute to this construction funding.

People are tired of new tax, while it is very true, how are we suppose to fund public projects without tax revenue?

A small increase of property tax on cities around the Evergreen line is a very sensible way to fund a public transit project like Evergreen line.

The economic impact of an efficient transit system like Evergreen line is enormous on the cities it will run through. Beside, the property tax increase to support Evergreen line is negligible. On an average property valued at over $600,000 the tax increase could be $31 to $54 per year. It is unlikely that this small increase in property tax will be a burden for home owners. The benefit property owners will get from the Evergreen line completion for their little contribution is thousands of times. There is no better ROI (return on investment) for a property tax increase.

Here are some of the benefits, property owners along the Evergreen line might experience after the completion of the transit system.

1. Value of their property will rise higher than the rest of the region.
2. By using Public Transit, will save money on Car, Insurance, Gas, Maintenance etc.
3. Easy and worry free access to almost every part of the city.
4. New business and investment opportunities will open along the Evergreen line.
5. The Evergreen line and new businesses will create more jobs and opportunities for local residents.
6. Prospect for New Residential Development like near King George Station in Surrey and other xisting skytrain station has experienced.
7. Positive impact on the environment, but reducing carbon emission from Cars.
8. Easy access to regions where Jobs are available.

If there is no paved street in front of your property, would you invest in a paved street so that it becomes more accessible?

Property owners should cheerfully contribute to Translink Evergreen construction fund. This is one tax contribution that will benefit generations.
